Last November, me and my parents went to Tagaytay to have some quality time together before my father goes back to abroad. As I would normally do, I’ve researched different must-try restaurants in Tagaytay. After reading a lot of blogs, I decided that we’ll go to The Dining Room at Gourmet Farms for brunch and if all else fails we’ll go to my favorite spot, which I must say the safest bet, Bag of Beans.
When we arrived at the Gourmet Farms, we saw Archbishop Tagle having breakfast in the Refresher. My mother and I approached his table to give respect and greet him, while my father was just smiling at him. Didn’t want to take too much of his time so we went to The Dining Room. It’s a big white place, I mean a hundred pax could be seated in the room. It’s like a modern design combined with a elegant classic style. But to my disappointment, we cannot be seated inside the main dining area. The staffs are preparing for a wedding reception in the afternoon. So for diners, we had to stay in the Al Fresco area, where there’s really no great view to see. Just a garden that looks like it needs a little revamp.
I don’t want my parents to get hungry so we just ordered whatever they recommend. I forgot the name of the dishes that we ordered. But overall the food is just good, not great. Price is a bit high. I probably would choose other restaurant if given a chance. After we finished our food, we went for a tour at the farm. The farm is about 10-minute walk. It’s just at the back of the main resto.
There we saw different herbs. And wide range of lettuce that grows on the majority of the farm area. Aside from the leafy vegetables, there are also few farm animals. Like goats and sheeps, and the wild cat which is famous for the most expensive coffee, Cafe Alamid.
After the tour, we went to Bag of Beans where we had our snack-turned-lunch-again meal. You’ll never go wrong with bag of beans. 🙂
A little over a year after my friends and I went to Bag of Beans in Mendez, Cavite, I finally convinced my family to go there. I want to go back there because of the cozy atmosphere plus it’s very accessible to commuters like us. No hassle going there even if you don’t have a car because it’s along the highway. The place is different now, maybe because of the expansion. The spot where my friends and I were seated before is different. The prices were also different – of course, higher. 🙂
So there, our supposed to be breakfast was turned to a brunch. It was a sumptuous meal because we were all excited to place our orders, not realizing that some of the meals can be shared. =)) I just love breakfast meals. Of course, our food trip wouldn’t be complete without a cup of coffee (bottomless actually). 🙂
