When Book-aholic Gives In to Temptations

The reason why I try not to go to a bookstore is because I can’t help myself to buy books!

But just this morning on my way home, I really planned to go and stop by a bookstore. So there, I went to roam around and see if there’s something new. I noticed that the interior of the store is different. Some of the staffs are also new, I have not seen the one who always assists me when I come there. Of course my visit wouldn’t be complete if I don’t read few paragraphs from the books that looked interesting to me. As time passed by, I got tired walking while carrying my backpack. So I decided to go home, so I headed back to the shelf where I placed the books that I’m going to buy.  And again, I got surprised that I’ve picked up 7 books! But in the end I decided to take only 5, and those are:

  • Angela’s Ashes by Frank McCourt
  • The Art of War for Women by Chin-Ning Chu
  • Maximize Your Day by John C. Maxwell
  • The Secret by Rhonda Byrne
  • Speaking with the Angel by Nick Hornby

The last time I spent hours inside the same bookstore (that was April this year), I had the following books with me when I went out:

  • Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen (done reading)
  • Mythology by Edith Hamilton (done reading)
  • The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People (still reading)
  • The Color Purple by Alice Walker (not yet done)
  • Something to Smile About by Zig Ziglar (still reading every morning when I come to office)
  • Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man by Steve Harvey (done reading)

I’ve been spending more time watching movies than reading my books lately. And I miss reading. I better flip the pages again starting today. 🙂
